Pranayama App Reviews
It has some sort of a graphical issue. Previously it was running fine but now it doesnt run at all with OSX 10.8.3. The computer has to be forced shut down every time. Update: Well I have found that it doesnt run on Mac ossx 10.8.3 if you run it in full screen mode. If it it running in windowed mode, its ok. I am giving it three stars because of its price which in my opinion is high.
Excellent app! I did yoga before - but did not know what pranayama is. This is a very simple way to learn about it. It helps me to retain focus at work during the after-lunch time
Initially, I had a problem reconciling my screen resolution with Pranayamas (they didnt correlate: while my screen resolution was set at 1920x1080, i had to set Pranayamas screen resolution to 1600x900, in order to see the whole program interface, including the MENU at the bottom). Once I figured this out, I find that the program itself is FANTASTIC. Once I was able to access the menu, it truly was easy as cake. The breathing meditations are familiar and the variation of levels, sounds and music really make for an enjoyable, DO-able practice.
The app does what it states, easily modifiable including sounds, visuals and others. With a hectic schedule of work, grad school, clinicals, and exercising...sometimes putting everything away and taking a few minutes out of your day to focus on your self and your breathing is all the medicine you need. I like to utilize this app for practicing good posture, re-focusing, and de-stressing.
I initially had difficulty opening this program, but saw that others did to and saw that by changing the initiall resolution I could gain access to the menu. this program works well, just change the initial resolution.
I feel great after finishing a Pranayama session... energized, but relaxed and calm. The music is very well done, and guides me through the breathing exercises, so I dont have to stare at the screen. As to the menu, Ive found that if I select the maximum resolution and uncheck "windowed" theres no problem viewing it.
misery of headaches
Everytime I use this app to help my headaches I want to shout how wonderful this is.
Wonderful Mediation Application
I use this several times a week to relax and control my breathes. It also is a great tool for cardio exercising. Love this app! Worth every penny!
I love to meditate and do pranayama. This app is so awesome because my own internal counting never stays even throughout the duration of my practice. I tend to slow down over time. With this I dont have to worry about it. I can also see my progress and work slowly and systematically towards a longer khumbaka (breath retention). All wonderful things!!! Thank you! The one thing I would love to see is a more detailed version of my time spent at each level. Id rather know exactly how much work Ive done. 1-3 hours and 3-8 hours are way too general for categories. It might also be nice to connect with others who are practicing.
but i would agree with the complaint about the full screen. its irritating and makes the app seem kind of shoddy and old. as far as the content, i think its pretty great, though i would also like to see a little more flexibility in creating exercises and exercise patterns. another update fixing the full screen issue and adding some features would be welcome.
Many complaints are that it is a full screen only app. It does not matter to me I use this program for what it is here for breathing meditation. When I get up in the morning and before I get to bed I meditate. I close my eyes and breath with the sounds, sometimes leveing this world behinde. If it was only on part of the screen what else are yu doing when your breathing, obveously not meditating.
I had the free version of this app which was quite beneficial and made me want to upgrade to the paid version. I downloaded the paid version and when I went to open it, it took up the full screen without the option of minimizing the application and the menu was in the lower left corner, half out of site. There was no way to click on any options and since there was no option to minimize the screen, nothing I could do. I have closed the app and tried again. I have also deleted it, redownloaded it and opened it, but with no change. This is obviously an error and I hope just a fluke that I have to deal with alone and not many others have this problem, but nonethless I wish they would help me fix this.
This is a good app with a lot of resolution bugs. Set it, hit escape, the app closes, open it and your settings are gone. iPad version is great and cheaper. $0.99 would be a fair price for this until they fix it.
I have no grips about the app. I have not got the chance to play it or try the breathing exercises because it doesnt work on with the newest software for Mountian Lion
What a great way to start the day… and chill out in the middle. I am glad I downloaded it. Plus, I havd questions for the developer and had an answer in minutes… nice! And FYI: I dont get the complaints. This does what its suppose to and nicely.
Just some presets for some supposed average user, in search of a quick trip to some idealized ratios. Cosidering what one can do with a little programing this is pathetic. Who cares what they think is beginnner, intermediate, and advanced - every setting should be totally customizable,
loved this app but no longer works in 10.9 OS X Mavericks
It has like screen or flicker issues and I can’t see what’s on the screen when I have this app running in 10.9 OS X
Fantastic app for developing breath retention style pranayama practice. Very customizable, all timers can be adjusted (though the instructions for customization are not too hot, but it isn’t difficult). And yes, this SHOULD be a full-screen app. If you are looking at other windows, you aren’t meditating.
